Scrapbooking is a Wonderful Way to Save Family Stories
Saving family stories has come very naturally to me. My two grandmothers were fabulous storytellers. After I wrote a textbook on how professional speakers could use family stories, I was offered the chance to write what became Scrapbook Storytelling.
My sister Margaret introduced me to scrapbooking as a hobby and took me to a store in Florida. I stood there overwhelmed by the stacks of paper. Margaret purposefully gathered her supplies and proceeded to the checkout where the owner rang her up.
Margaret said to the woman, "That's my sister. She's writing a book on scrapbooking." Then to me, "Aren't you going to buy anything?"
I picked out ONE sheet of paper. I paid for it. I folded it into neat quarters and stuffed it in my purse.
The store owner said, "She's got a lot to learn."
Oh, boy. Did she ever have that right! But I'm happy to share what I know.
